A few are sold already, and a couple were custom orders. (www.hobbyzu.com) The black visor slouch with the holes is the pattern I'm working on at the moment, which also has a matching scarf. Gonna make a few more in different colors. Should have written it out since last December, so yeah, I've been procrastinating once again. *sigh*
I've just noticed the dark colors, better make some more hats in brighter colors to stand out during the dark winter days. :-)
t
I have a lot of hat plans and ideas, but had to get this basic ones out of the way first. I was getting many requests for it, so had to give in. ;-)
I'm really liking using artfire.com for my new store. (www.hobbyzu.com)
I've made quite a few decent sales in my short time with them. I'll always keep the etsy store, but so far my artfire store is really doing a lot better than my etsy one. :-)
Anyway, just a quick post before I'm off to bed.
Good night all!!

It's a bit heavinly laden in some places due to my 5 yr old, but he still did a great job in helping. :-)

I haven't blogged in ages! Yes, I'm still alive, still in one piece, and still relatively sane. hehe
I took some sort of break that I hadn't even realized I was taking. Time has gone by so quickly, I had no idea it had been this long since I last blogged.
So, I'm still crocheting, still working on new patterns and trying not to procrastinate. I still have my etsy store, and also opened up a new store with artfire. I like the way artfire looks compared with etsy. Etsy has more traffic of course, but artfire has great potential. It's not expensive to use artfire, so even if I get no sales, I won't lose much.
I have a few hat orders and pattern requests to work on, so I'll just leave this as a short post and get back to work.
See ya!!
I made a down payment on a sewing machine last yr, I went back for a few more payments and then forgot about it. I remembered, put it off, forgot about it again and again. Today I said no more! I went down there and left with lots of yarn, and a brand new toyota sewing machine! I only had to pay £50 for it! It's just a basic machine, which is fine for me. Some of these new fangled sewing machines are way to confusing! It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders now. I don't have to worry about this anymore. :-)
Here's my new sewing machine, and the yarn in a basket I also got today.
That's a hat I have on sale. I don't like trying them on without a scarf on my head. I know if I purchased a hat I wouldn't want some strange persons hair weaved all through it. *shudder*
Anywho, I'm off to pay with my yarn and sewing machine! See ya! ;-)
I've finished a few more since then and will add those on my next blog post.

I've been working on my website as well and hopefully will have the design aspect of them done by next week. Then I can work on my new business cards and hat labels. Oh yeah, I'm makin progress!!! ;-)
Soooo, where do I start?
I started my aromatherapy course a few weeks ago. It's really interesting and I'm enjoying it. It's something I do from home, so can fit it around other things I do. I've always been interested in essential oils and have been making my own oil blends and beauty products for a while now. Why use all that chemical laden stuff you buy in stores when you can make your own from all natural sources.
I'm also going to start a 'make your own products' course, and when I'm finished I might start selling my products. :-) That'll be fun!
On the crocheting side of things. I've finally gotten my sister to model a few hats for me.

It's nice to have an alternative model other than my plastic friend Naomi. She's gorgeous and all, but not quite real. ;-)
A friend of mine is supposed to model for me as well. The weather has turned though, so we're patiently waiting for the rain to go away. Summer is definitely over folks! I'm looking forward to the Autumn leaves. :-)
I need to figure out a backdrop I can use for indoor photos. That lightbox thing didn't work out the way I'd hoped. Maybe I can find some fabric to use instead?! Hmmm....
A friend of mine has also introduced me to color. I've been trying to use more of it, but it hasn't been an easy road. I've always been afraid of color. I think I grew up trying not to stand out, and went for the dullest colors possible. Black was my fave.
She taught me how to find color inspiration from objects around me and all about the color wheel and contrasting and so on. I don't know why I never saw color like this before, but I'm so grateful for her tips that helped me to open my eyes.

I went color shopping today and it was amazing! It was like I was given a brand new set of eyes. I was seeing things differently and noticing patterns and shades. I bought a few fashion mags for the colors and because she said I should look and see what colors are in season. There are actually specific colors people choose to be fashionable during a season! Who knew?! lol Apparently everyone but me.
I also went to the yarn store and totally blew my yarn budget apart. But I sure was happy and proud of myself. I went for purply/plum colors today. Next week I may do oranges or greens! :-)
I bought a pack of bright colored tissue paper because there were so many different colors in it. I bought a pink pen and a large pink pencil case to hold my small crochet projects. I absolutely hated pink a couple of yrs. ago. (I still don't like pale pink though.) I even got a notes folder for my crafting ideas and pattern writing that has red stitch detail. I also got some felt tip markers which I can use to see if certain colors go together. Honestly, I'm really irritated I never thought of all this myself!
I went overboard today with the spending, but it was exciting and a learning curve for me.
I also realized something about myself today. I'm scared of being successful. I think it's because I don't like attention, so somehow I sabotage myself so I won't get too much attention, which being a success with my business will get me. So, I have to work on that along with the no procrastination thing. It seems I was using the procrastination so I'd only be successful to a certain extent, but not too much where I'd get noticed. This is so weird, and I wish I had noticed this about myself sooner. My mother said she knows. I was like huh?! Why didn't you tell me???!!! lol
So, I'm working on getting tags to sew into my items, working on a new look and branding my business. I'm going to put more effort into my business and stop procrastinating which is holding me back a lot more than I realized. I have a business! It's mine! I have to say that to myself each day to drill it in. Whatever the reason is for holding myself back, I will overcome it.
Yes I will!!!!!
looked like that for over a week now. :-( I'm pretty sure it started
dying the moment it came through the front door. I thought the miracle
gro plant food would help, but no such luck.
Yet another thing to cross off my hobby list. :-(
I bet if I crocheted one it would stay alive! ;-)
I then started Keivys afghan, I was curious if the colors would work. I really wanted to make these afghans with yarn from my stash which is obviously cheaper. ;-)
I must have frogged and restarted his afghan about 3 or 4 times before I was happy with the color combo. I gave up asking Keiv what he wanted because he kept on changing his mind. He really likes it though, so I did good. :-)
Now I'm off to bed, I am busted. Gemaine is having a sleepover
tonight. The little boy's no trouble really, so my being tired is
more to do with lack of sleep. My own fault of course. I really
don't think I'll get any sleep until the boys are back in school.
Joys of motherhood!! ;-)

Nighty night!
He is 5 now, and I think he's waited long enough. It took ages for him
to choose a color, and even longer to choose a pattern.
Then Gemaine my pubescent preteen decided he wants a new one too. His
old blankie is a bit used and juvenile. With him choosing his colors
and pattern, that made Keivy change his mind several times. Several!!!!
I gave up on Keivy and started Gemaines blanket first. I'm loving how
it looks so far.
Keiv finally decided on a few shades of blue and red. I'll start it
tomorrow, I'm curious to see how it'll look!
This is exciting! There will soon be another item crossed off my
procrastination list! :-)
So, here are a couple of hat pics, I uploaded them to my etsy store.
Been crocheting regularly now, so more to come within the next week.
Pretty annoyed with the crinkled lightbox, but can't figure out how to smooth it out without melting the fabric!
The next few hats will be taken when we have a sunny day outside. Those always look better to me. :-)
We went to Edinburgh Castle last week and got soaked!!! I have never seen it rain that much here. Not that heavy anyway. It decided to get all hot and sunny when we were on our way home. Figures. Atleast we were dry by the time we got home. :-)
We also visited Dynamic Earth. The boys and I had a good time. :-) Unkown to us a Scottish Clan Gathering was going on next door. We found out after leaving dynamic earth. We also found out it only happens every 30 years, and we missed it. Yay. I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I'm 62. :-( My memory is bad now, what if it gets worse and I totally forget by then!?
Ummm, what else? Oh yeah, we went to Arthurs Seat yesterday. I was hoping to make it to the top. I'm scared of heights though, and it didn't work out too good. I started getting dizzy and felt queasy. We got to a corner that I couldn't see around and we turned back. Sorry kids! You can come back with your aunt one day. I even had trouble sleeping last night because of our adventure. I kept on having visions of myself and my boys sliding off the slide of the cliff. *shudder* I hate my imagination sometimes.
Tomorrow we are going to the zoo! There are lots of places to go that I need to cross off my to-do list. Busy, busy, busy!
So the reason for this rushed post is I need to get to bed so I'm not a zombie tomorrow. Not that I'll go to sleep earlier than usual, but there's no harm in trying. ;-)
I was going to share more pics but for some reason I can't upload them. Don't know why, but I feel like blaming it on my stupid laptop and losing the wifi connection every 10 mins. *sigh* I am honestly thinking of selling this thing and going into town and purchasing a 2nd hand one. In the end, it may be cheaper that way. I am no longer a dell fan. *sniffle* I've had to replace the adaptor twice, the battery died ages ago, and I had to replace the hard drive. There are also weird things this laptop does that no tech person seems to be able to explain to me. This thing was purchased last March! Okay, enough ranting about stupid machine that hates me.
Anywho, maybe I'll upload the photos to my multiply blog like I did with the Arthurs Seat album here. I'll do that tomorrow when i have the zoo pics as well.
I'm tired and am not even sure if this post is readable, so I'll check ya later!! ;-)
Since that decision last week I've posted free patterns on my blog
that I meant to do ages ago, finished two hats that have been half
done for a few weeks, rephotographed old hats with new mannequin head
and posted them on etsy, I took the boys to Edinburgh Castle, we went
to the Dynamic Earth exhibit, I'm applying for help to move to a house
with a backyard, I've chosen the courses I want to take on
Aromatherapy and creating my own products and am applying for a small
grant to help pay for part of it, I've thrown away all my chemical
laden toiletries and have been using all natural products I make
myself, and on the list this week the boys and I are going up Arthurs
Seat mountain(I'm terrified and scared of heights), the Edinburgh Zoo
and hopefully Holyrood Castle.
This no procrastinating thing is hard work, but very rewarding. My
back is absolutely killing me with all this extra activity, but as
long as I get a break every other day, I'll be fine. Hopefully. :-)
So anyway, I have a lot of pics to share, but they're on my laptop at
the moment which Keivy is playing a game on. I'll post some after he's
done and meanwhile I'll get back to crocheting. I have a new pattern
I'm working on, but want to go through my to-do list in order so it
won't be ready for another week or two.
Here's a pic I have on my phone from the birthday party Keivy attended
on Friday.
Ta-ta for now!

Another free pattern I forgot to post to connect with the link on ravelry. Enjoy!
Fingerless Mittens

Use size H 5mm hook.
CUFF
Ch 15,
1.) Sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in back loops to end, ch 1 and turn. (14 sc)
2-31.) Sc in back loops in each st to the end, ch 1 and turn.

JOINING ROW : This row is crocheted through both the current row's stitches, as well as the stitches from row 1.
33.) Join with a sl st to the corresponding sc in row 1. Sc in same st, and through each stitch pair across. (14 sc)
TURN CUFF TO THE RIGHT SIDE
34.) Evenly space 32 sc's around the cuff. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc. Fasten off and weave in ends. (32 st)
MITTEN – Start crocheting in unworked end of cuff.
1-13.) Join yarn with a sl st to the 1st sc in the joining row. Sc in same st and evenly space 32 sc's around. Continue working in the round up to row 13, using a stitch marker if needed to keep track.
At the end of row 13 work the thumb:
14.) Ch 6, sk next 6 st, sc in 7th st and continue working sc's in the round. When you reach the ch 6 again, sc in the chains and continue crocheting around.
15-29.) Continue working in sc in the round.

THUMB
Join yarn to any st on thumb, sc in same st and each st around. (14 sc)
Continue working in the round for 5 rows.
Join with a sl st to the 1st sc; sl st around; and then fasten off and weave in ends.
Do I have to tell you to repeat this for the other hand? :-)
Hopefully I can keep them alive. :-) I plan on getting some pretty
flower pots for them. Gotta keep em happy!
My two youngest will watch over them for me. ;-)
I took a few pics, but the wrinkles and seams in the nylon or whatever it is show so much. Steaming the backdrop didn't really make much difference.
I wanted to post the pics for comparison shots but my laptop cord is giving me trouble again.
I ordered a new one last week, so hopefully I get it soon. This cord here keeps crackling and sending sparks. Possibly not a good thing. ;-) I swear I have bad luck with computers. Or maybe it's just Dell. Yes, I think I'll blame it in them. In just over a year I've had to replace the cord 3 times, the battery died and needs replacing, I had to replace the hard drive, the video card is acting up and the cd/DVD drive doesn't always work. I honestly believe these manufacturers make sure their products last just until your warranty is up. Then everything just falls apart!
Anywho, I'm hoping my laptop will turn on for me tomorrow, I have a lot of hats to add to my etsy store.(hobbyzu.com)
Nighty night for now!!! :-)
See the black bag, and then what came out of it? How the bleep do I get it back in there?!
Maybe I should have gotten something smaller. Oh dear.

-- Post From My iPhone
I made her corn muffins and berry muffins for breaskfast. These went along with the scrambled eggs Gemaine made for her. He's the scrambled egg king! ;-)
I also made her a chocolate bundt cake for dessert with a chocolate glaze which was so delicous and easy to make. I used her birthday as an opportunity to try out a few recipes that I've been meaning to make for ages. That's 4 crossed of my list! Leaving a few hundred left to try. he-he ;-)
She wanted fried fish with peas n rice, mac n cheese and potato salad for dinner. Bermudian picnic food basicly! :-)
This is what happened when I tried to take it out of the pan a little later on. Grrr!!
I hope you peeps out there try the cake recipe. You will not regret it!! Nighty night! :-)
These are the rules:
1) Go to your photo folders
2) Select the sixth file folder
3) Open it and select the sixth photo in that file folder
4) Write a story for that picture, post it and
5) Select five bloggy friends to tag
6) Be sure to let them know they've been tagged
So, here's my pic.

This photo is of my 3 boys playing on their bed a few months after we moved to Edinburgh. Delante is the eldest, then there's Gemaine who's head is behind Keivaughns.
Delante is back home in Bermuda right now with his father. We all miss him so much, so it's nice to have memories like this. :-)
Wow my boys are so big now! I feel so old. *sigh*

Anywho! Here are the five bloggers I'll tag with this fun meme. It is considered a meme right? hmmmm
Nan
Arlene
Karen
Maple
Mama Jones
Have fun ladies!!

Don't tell her I said so. Shhh....
![[kreativ_blogger_award_copyfrom+sandy.jpg]](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oJnnjpygVVM/SjY7h5iamXI/AAAAAAAAAx8/VeHxsNok5xg/s1600/kreativ_blogger_award_copyfrom%2Bsandy.jpg)
Thanks so much to Bev over at One yarn after another for giving me this great award! It means so much to me. Especially since I don't really think things are all that kreativ over here. :-) I feel so special!! *sniff sniff*
So, here are the rules for this award:
a) List 7 things you love
b) Link back to the person who gave you the award
c) Pass it along to 5 other Bloggers. (It was 7, but I've run out of new people to give awards to)
1.) I love my 3 boys of course! More than anything or anyone on this earth. I thank God for them every single day.
2.) I love to make things with my hands. Crochet is the main one, but then there's also sewing and quilting, cross stitch, baking, knitting and a few other things I can't remember at the moment. It's just so amazing what a person can make with a little fibre and a hook or needle!
3.) I love computers and all sorts of gadgets. Gadget freak is what I am! :-)
4.) The internet! It is just so chock full of any type of information you could ever possibly want.
5.) I love bags! Back packs, hand bags, tote bags, messenger bags etc. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect bag to hold all my personal items and my craft pouch confortably without being too bulky and non-stylish. ;-)
6.) I love my home. There is truthfully no place like home! It's full of everything I love, my wonderful family, memories, crafts, food, warnth, comforts and my bed. :-)
7.) Nature. There is nothing more special than Gods creations. Sunrise, sunset, beautiful sandy beaches and blue water, caves, forests, animals, flowers, grass, streams, lakes, mountains, trees, snow, rain and the list goes on and on.
Now comes the hard part. Choosing 7 bloggers is hard! Not because I can't think of anyone, but because they are all deserving of an award.
1.) Jan - She is the coolest crocheter going and a very sweet person. She can make anything she puts her mind too and always updates her blog regularly.
2.) Karen - She is another great person and always has something interesting on her blog. Beautiful fibre, wonderful FO's, gorgeous photos and such a beautiful family.
3.) Maple - Yet another wonderful person! She always has such beautiful fibre on display and such cute stories about her alpacas. Very busy woman, but she still finds the time to share her life with us.
4.) Sarah - Her blog is always chock full of amazing crochet and color! She is such a master when it comes to color combinations, and there's always some inspiration to gain from reading her blog.
5.)Arlene - She is the best!! Great person, amazingly talented and just an all around asset to anyone. You soooo need to check out her shop!
Now I'm off for more blog reading. Three more blogs and then I'll be caught up and back on track! :-)
I'm also working on a new hat pattern, which you'll see in hats like the green and white striped one.
cupcake and 2 cookies each. I'll make more for us tomorrow I think.
